Weekend at Grandma & Grandpa's
I may not have everything I want in life (Does anyone?), but when it comes to family I hit the jackpot! There are countless people I could begin to name off here including parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, extended family, friends I consider family, etc. but, I do not have the time nor the patience to do so. I have an extremely large family and I am lucky enough to be very close with many of them. Not everyone has that and I do not take it for-granted. Though my love runs deep for all of my family members, two of the people I am most thankful for are my parents. Simply put, they are the best.
Of course, in my teens years their love and guidance was mistaken for cruel and unusual punishment. As I've grown older, moved out of their house, gotten married, bought my own house and especially, had children of my own I have come to understand and appreciate what they've done for me the last 24 years. And now to see the deep and unbreakable love they have for my own children makes my eyes glossy (Which is great for catch-lights! Hehe.). I watch them build couch-forts, tickle their tummies, give them bubble baths, feed them, tuck them into bed... I have flashbacks into my own childhood. But now, I see it from a whole new point-of-view. I read a quote the other day that sums up my feelings completely... "The only thing better than having you as my parents is my children having you as their grandparents." This is one of the most true and real statements ever made.
I wanted to document these moments and capture the feelings it gives me in photographs. So, we spent the weekend at Grandma & Grandpa's house (my parent's) and I spent lots of time being a fly on the wall, watching, smiling and snapping picture after picture. I hope this warms your heart as it does mine.
